Home is thirty miles north of London, thirty miles south of Cambridge in England. Am ex Royal Navy, then into wooden furniture design and sales and lately in wood design in the commercial construction sector in the UK. Been turning pens for five years and now do it as a living having been made redundant from the construction industry middle of last year. I make about 25 styles of pens, all conventional, havent ventured into kitless pens and dont do any of my own casting, time is too short. Best tool I ever bought was a chainsaw and I enjoy harvesting and drying some of the woods we have in the UK that dont travel well! European Oak, in all its varieties, Brown Oak, Tiger Oak, burred oak, Yew, and Laburnum (which I think you have your side of the pond?) amongst others.

Looking forward to broadening my pen turning knowledge via this forum.

Welcome from Texas, Neil! What took you so long to find us?? There is an insatiable appetite for delicious wood on IAP, so give us a shot at some of your harvests.

Welcome Neil
Spent sometime back in the 1994 in Hitchen My son and his wife were ub US Air Force stationed at RAF Chicksands. We spent 2 months at their flat in Ickelford and walked over the Hitchen to catch the train to where ever. Did many walkabouts through the fields to nearby Pubs. Loved it. Beautiful Country and great people. Wife went to flea market in Bedford and we had to ship all the stuff home through the Air Force post office. Went back a few years ago to meet her 2 pen pals one in Somerset and the other in Bath. Thinking of going. one more time maybe take the Grandkids.
