Hello everyone. I am glad to join this group. I have been a woodworker for over 25 years and just got into turning pens. My first pen was OK but I needed practice. Now (5 months later) I'm doing better. A friend asked me if it would be possable to do a pen with his company logo. I am now asking anyone out there if I can do this and how to do it. thanks

Yes you can do it, print a label and cast it in resin. Go check out the library, there is tons of info in there on a variety of subjects. Oh, and welcome to the group from Wichita Falls,TX

Glad to have another central valley turner on board. There are a few others from Clovis, and a Northern California chapter of IAP that is full of great people, fun and talented. If you click on the Local Chapter button at the top of the screen and scroll down to Northern California, you can follow what is happening in that chapter. The meetings are hosted by anybody that wants to, most of them being in the Bay Area because it is centrally located. We have been carpooling up to those meetings when everybody can go and you are welcome to come along.

As far as logos on pens, I think the easiest would be the waterslide decals. They are available at Hobbytown, Blackstone and Barstow. I just got some and am still in the learning process. As was posted ealier, there is lots of information on this site.

Anyway, welcome and hope to see you at some of the meetings.

Wow, another one from this area! Welcome Jim, even if you are south of Shaw.

Same offer as to Dancinjoe. Love to have you come to the next northern california meeting.

Welcome Joe, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Welcome from an ex Tulare man. I was just in Fresno over Thanksgiving - several relatives live there. Welcome to the pen addiction! YOu will find folks very helpful here. I have seen 3 ways of doing logos = engraving, printing and covering with coats of CA or casting as the first post mentioned. I still have to learn the last two!

Keith paid me the honor of a visit while he was here. No better reason for a pen blanks swap!
