Definitely good for shipping bowl and plates and stuff. I'm having more trouble with the existing boxes. That's good news. It's a little on the short side, but oh well, at least it's a foot square.

Oooh, even better - "The new Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box (12" x 12" x 5½") can be used for both domestic and international shipments. This extends the flat-rate price and ease-of-use benefits to international shippers. There is also a 5 percent online discount." That's around $0.65 off the 12.95 price. Not too shabby.

I wonder how soon we'll be able to order them in.

I learned today that you can print the International priority postage from pay pal shipping buttons. you still get the discount. makes international postage much easier. The guy at the post office was suprised it did not print the customs form for me as well as he thought it was supposed to. that would make mailing to other contries nearly as simple as domestic.

Yeah, Daniel, wouldn't that be nice? I'm so sick of customs forms and their 84 sheet carbon-copy stack Like trying to write through leather with a ball point. I love Paypal shipping. I just learned about and figured out the Paypal Multi-order shipping tool the other night when I mailed off all those bottle stoppers. It was so nice to just hit the print button once, and the package list is an awesome way to keep track of who gets what, not to mention providing a printed checklist. I didn't know about the International shipping in Paypal, though. I'm going to have to check that out, thanks for the heads up you guys! :)

Daniel, I know you can print the customs form on their (USPS) web site. I sent a pen (from the swap) to Canada and it printed everything on it.

I just verified doing it again to make sure I remembered correctly. It has the Customs Declaration CN 22 filled out and showing.

You can print the customs form online, I do it all the time. Not sure why it wouldn't let you.

Karl, I wrote 5 of the big thick white ones yesterday. When I got to the post office they told me I needed the little green ones. anyone got one of those "bang head here" signs?
getting it automated has me real happy. I will have to play around on usps.com and get it really figured out. I refuse to limit the bulk buys I do to US only. I also have a question concerning pay pal payments. once in a while I get a payment that does not give me a print shipping option. What I need to know is what to tell people about paying that will make sure I get the shipping option? sort of a side line but I always end up with one ro two packages I have to pay for at the post office. makes my wifes job harder[}:)]

The new flat rate box could be useful for heavy stuff. I checked the Pay Pal shipping. Looks handy. But one should add about $1.00 to the actual costs for having to purchase boxes as opposed to the free ones from USPS. I believe costs, when viewed by the shipper, depend on whether the customer is paying all costs and how fast they want their item delivered. Still, it's an option.

The new boxes will be free - you'll just spend a buck or so if you choose to use your own.

Cheers.

Daniel I don't know about that on the addresses. When I did the drill bit group buy, I only got 5 addresses out of 30 something. I had to do each one individual through paypal when I got them from everyone. Took a lot of time.

I BELIEVE (opinion, not fact) the ship option shows up as long as the customer pays you through paypal indicating it is for "goods", not services, or e-bay or whatever the rest of those choices are.

And, EVERY TIME I go to ONE of our post offices, the form is the wrong one. The other post office just ships it, as is, none have ever come back.

This is yet another one of my "pet peeves": There are two post office buildings within 5 miles of my office - in opposite directions. The one "downtown" is VERY helpful, friendly and things go out fairly easily - but parking is a pain. The other one, where parking is very convenient and there is more staff, so the lines are shorter, employs jerks. They delight in telling me SOMETHING is incorrect. Of course, since all my stuff is over 14 oz, I can't just put it in the mailbox. Lately, we have tried "carrier pickup". That's pretty good - but can be a problem when I really don't KNOW which forms SHOULD be filled in. The carrier certainly doesn't know.

I, too, will be looking for PayPal international, I've always gone to USPS for that - adds several steps, PayPal would be MUCH easier.
