New Contest Idea

I think everyone should post a photo the coolest most burly spalted or insane rare blank you have or can obtain

I'm unsure of what the "contest" would consist of, but it would be cool to have a thread of some of the best burls and splated woods out there.

Maybe it would be best pen and best burl/spalt combo? That seems too broad to me. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion.

I think Zach's idea of posting pens and the burl and/or spalted wood from which they were made as a neat thread is the way to go here.

I am contested and raffled out right now.

BTW, after I run it by Jeff, we will have some new rules for contests.

I'm not the "Jeff" Cav is referring to. But yes, we do need to work on a good rule foundation for contests. But..we are learning what works and what needs fixed..it takes time and experience to plan these things out. We need to make our rules as clear as we can, and then not accept anyone complaining about them, for real or in jest. This way there will be no confusion as to whether someone is actually complaining or just kidding. Competitors discussing rules in any way during a competion, is like talking politics..it doesn't work.

Cav----it would be nice if we could get some guildlines for Fund Raisers at the same time. Seems like I lot of folks are just popping up and collecting items and money from the membership. I think I counted 4 different "Donations Wanting " running at one time not to long ago.

I agree. I had too much on my plate at work to be as involved as I should have been of late. If Jeff (Benevolent Dictator Jeff) :biggrin: agrees, there will be no contests or fund requests unless they are run through me and approved.

I do recall my past "fundraising idea" was ran past cav, I do believe even if it is not in writing it should be a given, just my opinion, take it or leave it.
