This year we invite you to try your hand at a new pen contest.
The Antler Bone or Horn Pen Contest.
The rules are fairly simple and posted here. Basically you must make a kit pen out of antler, bone or horn or any combination of the three. You may add wood and acrylic, but at least 2/3 of the pen must be antler bone and/or horn.
So, get your creative juices flowing and let use see your best.
The contest is open from today through midnight, Sunday February 16 ( 12:01AM February 17 is too late).

just having a little fun. Just the mention of tortoise shell I am sure puts us on a watch list. Illegal to own here.

does tortoise shell count as bone?:turtle:

 Tortoise shell is the mottled, HORNY, translucent brownish covering of the carapace of certain see turtles. Just trying to help you out !! Jim S

Tortoise Shell, like Ivory, is not illegal to own, but you better have the documents to prove that it was harvested and sold befor a certain time. In the case of Tortoise Shell it would have to be before 1973 when CITES put a worldwide ban on the sale and trade of Tortoise shell. CITES = Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. There are huge fines and possable jail time for selling, buying, or tradeing illegal Tortoise shell or Ivory. Jim S

Please limit it to the title of the contest Antler, Bone and Horn.

Is it okay to use an obsolete kit? That is, one that used to be sold but is no longer being made and can't be purchased today?
As long as it is/was a commercially available kit.
