Welcome Kahi, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Hey SteveG no not from the Big island but have alot of family there that owns alot of acers of Kona coffer fields. Also have a customer owns 33k acres of Koa forest you heard right 33 thousand acers lol. When i built a Homeless shelter here own this isalnd which cost 14 million I had put in a huge conference room. So i needed a conference table a checked for prices and it was to costly. So i built my own and called my friend up to donate some Koa wood and he had me pick up four truck loads. All i needed for the boarders. So now the shelter was done and my table and it all turned out beautiful. Thats how i got into pen turning because to have a successful homeless shelter it needs to be self sustainable. I thought of many things to have in place to give training for the people and pen turning is just one of them. Thanks for all the welcome from all you guys.
