well, since there is so many bubbasville activities going on, i decided to gather up all the info i could, and consolidate the bubbasville website for *all* bubbasville locations :)

www.bubbasville.com

its in the early stages, still lots of work to be done, but i figured i'd get it going with at least locations/times to start with, then add the rest as we go...

check it out...if there are any specific errors (like dates/times/locations) let me know via PM (plz) and i will be happy to correct my mistake...

i'll add more and more as time goes on, especially when folks from the other locations send me info (like pics, articles, etc)...

Jeff,
I was surprised to see New England already on the list considering its got a membership of 1 so far[:D], hope to keep up the tradition as long as I don't have to eat grits.[:D][:D].

I'll take the plunge and start the ball rolling. Call me the official New England Bubba. Now the rest of you bubbas and bubbettes when your done shoveling drop me a note and we'll see when we can plan our inaugural gathering. Just don't tell my wife about this, I'll have to break it to her gently.

Thanks Jeff,
I'm trying to put together a few pics from our meetings. Unfortunately, I don't have any that have me in them, as I'm the one taking the pics. They'd probably weight too much anyway.[:0][;)]

A really good idea! Thanks for setting up a centralized website. I have a suggestion ... but first, let me ask .....
Am I correct in assuming that the original Bubbasville started with IAP? What I mean is, is Bubbasville an idea that was created by IAP members?
I'll wait to hear from you before giving my suggestion. [:)]

glad to help!

the first bubbasville was held in sept 2002, which i is before IAP existed...and the first bubbasville was actually called bubbatown, but that didn't sound right, so i changed its name...

the initial attendees comprised of some local friends who are turners - but also enjoy making pens, a few Y!penturners i had met that live locally, and a few other folks that were not active turners...

and now it has evolved :)

We need something like this in Western Washington. [:D]

Maybe I could suggest putting all this info in a CMS. Then you could get help with maintaining content.

Build it and they will come. Seriously. Just take a look at Bubbasville East and Bubbasville Hotlanta. [:)]

Me? I'm on the west coast. Or am I misreading this? [:D]

What Doc was suggesting, is for you to put out a call to local pen turners (don't forget the other pen sites-1/2 of Bubbasville East folks are "from" Yahoo) to get together.

If you build it, they WILL come.

Joe

"Ding" and the light goes on. If it wasn't for the thousand other projects, I might just do that.

Now, how can I find the time to do this. hmmmmmmm [?][:)]

Steve,
I think I must be nuts but I volunteered to start a Bubbasville New England. I know what you mean about finding the time but some things will surely be worth the effort. I figure that something like this once the ball gets rolling will take on a life of its own. Go ahead and jump right in with both feet. we can trade war stories when the dust settles.

Could an already named, scheduled, but yet to happen event, in a part of the country where a Bubbasville currently isn't scheduled, take on an honorary name of Bubbasville Midwest?[:D]
