Quick question, I'm getting ready to purchase a large qty of size 00 & 000 laboratory hard rubber stoppers. The inventory count was incorrect and short the number pieces of the 000 Black (no hole) stopper. However, they offered the green neoprene (more expensive) as its substitute at no additional charge.

Has anyone used neoprene stoppers for casting or do you know of any reason one should not use neoprene?

Don't know the difference except maybe the hardness. But would like to know if it was a good deal and if you would mind revealing your source? If not, no worries!

Thanks for the info Rob,

Made a "best offer" to one of the folks on Ebay who sells labratory stoppers and they accepted.
Size 000, Qty 600, Size 00, Qty 800
TTL $42, works out to .03 ea

Not sure if its a "great deal" but it's the best offer I could find for rubber stoppers.

.. then again, they're running about $8 per pound, and there's 200 or so per
pound. If they're non stick, isn't that about 190 more than you need at one
time? And if they're not non stick, isn't that about 200 more than you need?

I have recently been using ear-plugs. Some work, some don't. I also started with closed-cell cross-linked polyethylene foam because I had a ton of it and cut my own plugs. The heat from the exothermic reaction expanded the air trapped in the closed-cells and I always got microscopic bubbles around the plugs. Some of the ear plugs do the same thing. If I had to guess I'd say the neoprene will suffer the same fate. But I'm very interested in your outcome. Will you post your findings?
