Is there anyone out there that could router me a couple of channels for a pen box. I've got some gym floor that I'm going to make pens out of and I was wanting to make a couple of pen cases out of the flooring as well. I wanted the box to stay rough looking with it's original finish, so I'm not to worried about the outside. Could anyone do this for me if I mailed these to you with paid returned postage? If so e-mail me and let me know what it would cost me to get it done.

If you would be happy with a Dado blade on a Radial Arm saw I would be happy to help.
No charge---you just pay the postage------of course if you wanted to toss in a real nice blank that would be cool:biggrin:

These guys already offered, otherwise I'd have done it no charge too. You know you can do it with a table saw easy enough. If it's a V groove, just angle your saw blade. Another thing you can do, is build the box. Then cut 2 pieces that fit in the box width, not length, kinda like you are making file folder seperators in the box. You drill a hole through the center of the two "file folder" pieces, the hole being just a bit larger than the pen. Then you cut the wood in half, which also means the hole is cut in half. You glue those new pieces in the box. The half holes hold the pen up and also allow fingers to slip down beside the pen to grab it.

Thanks for the offers everyone. I'm trying to make a pen and a pen case out of gym flooring from a local school so they can sell it at a charity auction. The pen case was to be a surprise for them. But, I've run into a snag.

My equipment isn't good enough to do what I want. The flooring is plenty think to do a pen case, but I can't get them cut square on my stupid band saw. The woods to thick for my cheap saw and the blade keeps wandering. Man! I got mad messing with it last night. Also, I read the barrel hinge tutorial last night and I don't think I even want to try that with my crapola tools. Anyways, I'm going to see if I can get these cut square and I'll let one of you know when I need them routered. Some how I'll get it figuered out. Thanks again.
