I have destroyed three Woodcraft Oxford pen kits [three twist mechanisms and three center bands]. I destroyed the parts in question when disassembling them as 'salvage'. 'Salvage' status was achieved during the blank turning phase of construction. The rest of the parts survived my demolition efforts. I have thirty dollars tied up these kits and my time. If anyone has spare parts, (3) twist-mechanisms and (3) center bands I will buy them. Or trade for ... ?

Woodcraft does not sell 'spare parts' for this kit.

To the best of my knowledge, slimlines are the only trannys that you can buy as aftermarket items in bulk. That being said, Woodcraft gets their kits from Berea so you might consider talking to them or their biggest reseller, BB at Arizona Silhouette. Unfortunately, I have a feeling you have just had an expensive lesson in pencrafting.

Good luck!![:D]

Hi,

If, not sure about the photo but if this tranny is like the kits that use the parker refill, Woodturningz had them for sale few weeks ago in pack of 10 for 5 or 6$. For the center band, you could either turn your how, try with the reseller for an orriginal one. Else, they sell some center band for the parker type kits (woodturning again, pens of color,etc... and fit it to your blanck. The tube size would be the issue here.
just checked the Woodcraft site, this kit uses the classic american bushing, so any parker type pen centerband will do, looks like the parker trans too.

hope this help you.

I didn't see Ryan's ad; but to the best of my knowledge, he only sells the twist mechanisms for the Cross refills that go in the slimline kits and a few others.

Woodturnings does sell the tranny's for the classic but I do not know if they will fit the oxford.

I do not know where you can get the center bands however. I believe the oxford is only available at woodcraft.

I don't see them listed on the web site; but it wouldn't hurt to contact Ryan and ask. As I understand it, Woodturningz is a PSI reseller. Since the Oxford kit is a Woodcraft/Berea kit, the chances of the parts being compatable is probably not good??

Hi,

Woodturningz had the transmission for sale on their new year event. I have to agree with Randy, the transmission cuold be an issue.
But.....
The Oxford kit is built on the flat top series from Berea, and uses the same tube and bushisng (as per both kit instruction). If some one have a Berea flat top and a PSI classic serie or a CSU americana serie, they could easily check if the transmission is the same. They all look pretty darn the same to me (like all the cigar kit do).

Now for the center band, since this kit use the same tube and bushing that the flat top use so the centerband have the same inside and outside diameter, any Berea flat top centerband would do including the corinthian, wich is probably the closest to the Oxford one and $1.35 each from Berea.

Again, i would suspect that the centerband from the PSI or CSU (wich have more choice) would do, but should be mesured first before i can put my head on it. I will check at home tonite to see what i have and take some mesurement.

There could be very interesting data coming out of this topics[:D]

Actually, arioux is correct--Woodturningz does indeed sell the parker style [cigar pen] xmission, they were selling packs of 5, not ten. Ryan and co. have a lot of things not listed on the website...never hurts to give 'em a call.
BTW....might consider a disassembly tool while you're at it! lol
