Most pen kit retailers sell lengths of tubes in kit sizes. Sierra type pen tubes I've not been able to find in 10" lengths, but believe all the other major tube sizes can be had in 10" lengths. For the Sierra you just have to buy individual tubes already cut to length. I recently ordered 50 Sierra tubes from Exotic Blanks for a very reasonable price. Hope this helps.

They are available at quite a few places. My local woodworking shop has some, but here's some online links from popular vendors

Thanks for this info. I didn't overly mind them being pen length, as I'm doing them a practice turnings. If one turns out nicely I can always put it in a kit. Of course this is all because I'm a new turner as well.

Much appreciated @Darios

If I need tubes I usually just buy the needed tube at Exotic Blanks I think I've run across one pen type in the last year that they didn't have the correct set of precut tubes. Saves me having to cut them, yes I know it's not hard to do I just don't want to and have trouble cutting tubes square or without a burr someplace.

Also yes, if I'm using a spare tube something has already gone wrong but that goes without saying.

I did use a spare tube for a pen last week to do a practice run on a pen blank style I've never used and don't want to screw up the "real" pen
