My best friend of 13 years just called me yesterday to inform me that he was selected for commissioning to an LDO. His commissioning is in march (next year), but unfortunately, I'll be in Bahrain on deployment at that time.
My plan (ever since he put in his first package) has been to make him a really nice pen with a laser engraved mustang insignia on it. My problem is that I need a mustang image suitable for laser engraving onto a pen. Are there any LDO's out there that can help me?

Next, I am up in the air about the kit. I've made many Jr. Gents and Jr. Statesmans, but never an emperor or Jr. emperor. Can anyone help me out with size comparisons? I want to make a pen he can use (he'll have a desk job, so a big pen won't be a huge problem, I would think, but I want to make sure it's not so imposing that he'll never use it).

Next, is material. I have had an antler pen in mind ever since I expected him to get selected, but I don't think I have any that is big enough to drill for an emperor or statesman, or even the junior styles. Money is not a big problem at this precise moment (tax returns and all), so if anyone has any help, I don't have a problem paying for it.

I can't be of any help on the graphic but hope you can pass along my congratulations to your friend. That is quite a big accomplishment and career challenge!

Dave this may not help but for the CPO frockees I turned each one of them pens made of brass. I used the upgraded gold Baron and it matched perfectly with brass. I then attached one of the CPO tie tack pins to the upper barrel opposite of the clip.

Wow, I just looked up what LDO stood for in the Navy..quite an accomplishment..!

I will look through my childrens old coloring books I saved after they turned into a teenager.
I have found many nice/simple usable drawings in them sometimes.

I have some---just a few----piececs of Sambar Antler.
It's a bit pricey but worth every dime---real nice to work with---and the size would make any pen on the market today.
Heck I might even know where they are since I cleaned the shop up.
