Hi All,
I need some help with an idea I have. I'm trying to figure out how to come up with the material to make a "Seattle Seahawks" pen for my oldest son. I am having trouble coming up with the colors I need. There are three colors I'll need to do what I want to do. I have put in a request to Ed4copies, but fear it will be hard for him and Dawn to help me also. The problem is making a small enough batch of blanks.

Now for my idea. How about using a clear blank and coloring the tubes the way I want???? Or coloring the inside of the blanks and the tubes? Although that could be tuff, as I want to make the pen in a series of colors. Maybe just coloring the tubes. I cant draw on the computer, so it's hard to explain. I just want to make the pen with the three colors like a simple laminated piece. I could easily paint the tubes in the pattern I want, but the question will be, can I get the paint to stay in place and not streak or smear to badly.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Below are the colors, just in case anyone has the blanks in a drawer somewhere. [:p][:p][:p]

Steve,
I have been using metal paint from Michaels on some clear casted cactus blanks. I put 2 coats on the brass and 2 inside the blank. I have only done black so far and have a blue one I will turn today. The black worked great no streaks and no brass showing. I will let you know on the blue.

Steve,
some one did a faux snake skin by wrapping a picture around a tube and then castng with clear acrylic... why can you print your picture on photo grade paper or sticker and wrap your tube, then cast the same way..

Thanks Ed (tubby).

Tom, thats something I have been thinking about. Because of the multiple colors, painting the inside of the blank could be difficult. Let us know how it works on the diff color.

Chuck, Thats a "cool" idea. I could even use a photo of my choice. The only problem is, I don't cast yet.

Thanks folks.

Steve, I am sure the someone like Ed could do this for you if you asked around. All you need is a photo that could be e-mailed of snail-mailed and I am sure someone would help you out.. Mine would not de done for about 2 weeks and the cost would be 3 kabizilion dollars. I don't work cheap! [:D]
Hey, OT... When is that 5 barn's?? You still planning on going down??

Blue acrylic with some work by a laser artist-- use white and green infills on the laser work and it should be just the thing for a "sea chicken" fan.

Steve, If it's only the colors you're concerned with then how about this blank. It's available from CSUSA.

Then you could have it engraved and color filled with the green.

Watch it there Ken. The son this is for took 2nd place in the WABDL world finals power lifting championship. He benched 435 pounds. And he can be a little sensitive about his Seahawks. And so can I. [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]

That is relatively easy. Just print out the logo you want on an avery label and stick it to the brass tube. Plug ends, cast in clear resin, and continue as an acrilic blank.
