I can edit the title of my thread as it appears in the opened thread, but the title on the forum thread listing page is unchanged. Please help.

To edit the title, click "go advanced".

On some forums here, it may not be "editable", I honestly am not certain.

Thanks Ed. Actually I did just what you said to this post while you were sending the reply and it worked. However in the classified forum the same procedure has not worked for me in the past.

It does not work in the classifieds section. We have the function turned off to prevent folks from changing their listings, thus destroying the record of what was listed. I think it may allow title edits for the first 5 minutes but after that, it is unchangeable.

Thanks Curtis. I noticed that some titles have been edited to showed that post was closed. I have been unable to duplicate that. Perhaps you did that?

No, I did not do that and that is not what the rules for using the classifieds says to do! The rules say to edit your post itself and add the word CLOSED to the BEGINNING of the thread.

Curtis, if you turned "title edits" off and you didn't do it then something spooky is going on because there are at least three recent titles changed to "closed" in the personal classified forum. Also follows is a direct quote from the sticky in the same forum: "Edit topic when sold: Once your item sells, edit the original post, appending the word "SOLD" to the beginning of the body of your ad. A moderator will then move your topic to the "closed listing" sub forum of each classified section where you can view it in the future." Should this sticky be edited to reflect the current rules or can we use "SOLD" or "CLOSED".

Actually, Jeff turned it off but I believe there is either a 5 or 10 minute window where you can still change the title. Not real sure on that since I don't have admin priviledges in that particular area. I suspose someone edited the title within the time frame.

As for putting sold or closed, it really does not matter. If you do either, you will be way ahead of many that use the classifieds and will forever have my gratitude since it makes the job of moving closed ads a LOT easier!
