For those of you who cast alumilte or really any casting resin, how do you guys transfer the resin from the bulk gallons to the molds? I used to have some 32 ounce containers with the easy pour tops that I would just refill and those work perfect but I'd rather not spend another 30+ dollars for another set... Are there any containers that are both rugged and resistant to the effects of the resin?

I order 2 gallons at a time so I don't like pouring directly from the gallon container into my catalyst cups so what middle containers do you use? (post 3 has more info too)

You have to pour in some sort of container to mix in the catalyst so you are never pouring right into a mold. Never had a problem pouring into a cup before. If some gets on the side just wipe it off. I don't see where there is a huge problem. Maybe I am missing something.:)

Sorry, I'm essentially asking what containers you use that are smaller that the gallon tubs that you can pour into out of the gallon for both storage and eassier delivery to the cups I mix the molds in so you don't have to work with such large quantities of resin at a time. I don't know if the resin will eat through certain plastics or materials...

Home depot or lowes sells quart empty quart cans.

If you are using Alumilite, go to Walmart and buy some of these:

They are cheap, work great, and are easy to handle. Not sure how they will work with PR so use at your own risk if doing so.

since i cast in such small amounts, usually 3-5 blanks at a time i just run out every few saturdays to a local garage sale and pick up coffee cups. i usually get 10 for a buck or so then i just toss them in the trash when i am done. Since i use PR its better than the melted mess from the plastics from my earlier experiences

JT...the only thing you are missing if you are wiping it off is the cup!:biggrin:

Just kidding. I do it the same way. I use the clear plastic 9oz. cups you get at Sam's Club or BJ's.

I order my resin in the 5 gal bucket. It comes with a snap on lid and a spout with a twist off cap. I leave it in the bucket until I cast and then I pour into 16 oz clear "Kroger" brand plastic cups. Just make sure they have the number 5 on the bottom in the middle circle. They dont melt and theres plenty of room for stiring. I usually get a couple pours out of each cup when Im clear casting. Never had a problem and theyre cheap and easy to dispose of. I use chop sticks from the local chinese restaurant for stiring. they have a cup of them out at the food bar for those who want to use them. Ive been using the same stick for six months now.

I also buy my PR by the 5gal buckets and I use a plastic funnel like you would for gas to pour into a 1gal metal container I bought months ago. Never had any problems.
