You guys are spelling it wrong. It is iPod, not Ipod.

I would wait until after next Tuesday. Some newer models will probably be introduced. It is rumored that the lower end cheaper models will be doubled in memory size for the same price.

Many many people don't like the iPod and iTunes simply because they are from "Apple". But with the whole tech and music industry challenging and targeting the iPod for several years now, (including the music industry's trying to force Apple to "increase" prices on songs, force offer full CDs rather than individual songs, and force continued and guaranteed income "subscriptions" for the music industry,) . . . there is _one_ reason that it is still the leading player and music downloader - it is the most _consistent and easy to use_ music delivery system out there - especially for people who are not "tech minded".

I like my MS Zune, but I also like my old Rio Cali. And the $5 Sandisk MP3 512k player/flashdrive I picked up off of Woot.com works just fine as well.

It all depends on what you want to do with the player. My Zune I carry on long trips, it has 30 gigs of space. I only have about 15 gigs of music in my CD collection. The Zune can also play movies. The Rio Cali I drag it out when I gotta pull an overnighter, I load it with an energetic keep me awake playlist, it is about the size of a can of chewing tabacco, and it has a very large screen. The Sandisk I drag popular & relaxing things I want to listen to while waiting in the hospital or doctors office. As it is the size of a disposable lighter with full controls and display screen, I can just drop it into a pocket (again it only cost $5.00).

My wife and son both use iPods and I use a Samsung. I detest the iTunes interface and found it anything but user friendly. I was thinking about a Creative Labs Zen, but got a good deal on eBay for the Samsung.

If your cell phone contract is about up, you might consider getting an iPhone since it is also an iPod. I just got one and so far, COMPLETELY love it. Cost for an 8 GB iPhone is $199 plus the monthly cell bill.

It's not so much how the mp3 player works, it is the software. I have a dell 15 gig player and put close to 100 cd on it but the stupid misicmatch software is all screwed up. It does not matter I have all my favorite cd's on it.

Roy, all I have used is the iPod, so my input is limited. I like the iPod, and the iTunes didn't take toooooo long for me to use.

If you decide to go that way, check this link. Apple refurbishes returned iPods and give a one year warranty. We have saved about $50 compared to retail and have had no problems with the three my family has bought.

I agree in principal with MesquiteMan, if you can hold out for your cell phones contract get a phone that doubles as a mp3 player. I have both a Zune and an iPod and hardly touch them anymore because I got a BB Curve. I figured it was one less thing I needed to carry and its smaller. I use it as a phone, mp3/ movie player, GPS, PDA, and email /internet. One feature it has that neither my Zune or iPod has is stereo bluetooth. I love listening to my music wirelessly and being able to talk on my phone without changing devices.

I hear the iPhone is easy to use, so if thats what your looking for try that out. If your not intimidated by the learning curve check out the BB, it can do alot.
