Just checking if anyone has a good source for GOOD darts?
I had a request to make several sets. I have never made them before, but have seen them in catalogs. I would like to buy a better quality dart than a cheaper one, but do not know the difference.

Thanks in advance for any leads.

I made some PSI darts. They seem ok. They have all you need for weight adjustments. I made them for Christmas gifts. Like you I'm not a dart guy. The only high end stuff I could find was already assembled.

The only site I've ever seen are the PSI kits.. they are pretty good quality.. I'm not a dart person per se, but have made and sold a few of them..
I make the steel tips, but you can get the plastic for use with the plastic type of boards.. if you check some of the sports stores, you can buy different flights.. that would make them more custom.. PSI only has the one style of flights.
be sure you get the little scale also so you can make sure the weights are the same in the set..

These could be an option but I don't see them in steel tip. Looks like you could just turn a replacement for the grip. I don't know if you just slide the grip over it or if they come apart, could be worth a look though. I haven't seen the PSI kits in person but from their pictures they look a little cheapo.

I used to be a pretty avid dart player and the question of good darts unfortunately will probably not include wood. I am not sure who makes the best kit and I love the look of a turned wood dart but someone really into it is looking at getting 90% tungsten over 80% and sometimes even 95% tungsten. Ask Bruce Boone how expensive tungsten is and how much fun it is to machine and you get an idea at the cost.

If you are an avid darter (is this right name?[:)]) the PSI have a lot of plastic in them... but for the casual dart player, they might be okay.. I've made mine from wood and right now have a set from deer horn... get lots of positive comments, but so far no positive cash on them.. as I said, if you can change the flights, you can maybe customize them a little more..

I have made several sets also, and would make a lot more if I could find a supplier for the brass ferrules at each end of the tube that the tip and shaft screw into. I buy the PSI kits and use shafts and flights that I purchase elsewhere so each set is unique to the person I make hem for.
