Somehow I manged to convience my wife she should buy me a new lathe for her mother's day celebration. Not only that, she should get in the car and ride with me down to Macon to pick it up. I'm not sure how I did it, it could have been some cosmic forces or it could be that she is 9 months pregnant, and the internal pressures are interfering with her sense of logic. If it is the pregnancy thing, looks like I'll need to have another kid in a couple of years when I'm ready to buy the powermatic. Either way here it is.

It's a shop fox W1758 which is pretty much the same machine as a Grizzly G0462 (http://www.grizzly.com/products/Wood-Lathe-With-Digital-Readout/G0462) I've got it setup, but haven't turned anything. I said I wouldn't use it until I got the shop all cleaned up. I bought it new for $440 in Macon GA.

You the man. But I hate to tell you, that kid you got in the oven is going to cost you a lot more than $440.00.:biggrin::)

You have no clue as to what you just did , do you? Anything she asks for from now on you will be obligated to do. But dont be upset, you have a very nice lathe. And you thought slavery was illegal, HAHAHAHA Poor guy.

Neil is 100% correct. From here until eternity, the minute you do not do as the wife bids (and pretend to enjoy it), Mother's Day 2009 will be shoved in your face. And only then will you understand the errors of a naive husband.

I will pray for you.:foot-in-mouth:

NOt only that, but after the baby has arrived and she realizes that you took advantage of her twice?(once getting that baby in there and now the lathe trick) Oh, baby (no pun intended) are you in for it. But you can count on us to reassure you that it was worth getting the lathe now, 'cause there aint no more money, once the baby arrives.

As for the kid, this will be our third. I keep hoping there is a volume discount.

For the other issues, I did shower her with gifts. I also allowed her to say it was my fathers day present, but with that still a month away, I'm hoping she will forget and let me buy something else.

Ben, you have been had! After 35 years of marriage, the LOML usually doesn't complain at any purchase I make, the flip side is I can't complain about hers. Just try to keep a tally to make sure you don't come out on the S..H..O..R..T end of the deal. :) And congratulations on your child. Just had another grandchild myself....

Hey Ben ? You do realize that you will have all the feedings and diaper changes for the next six months to pay for that gift.:)
Congrats on the baby when it arrives and best wishes to your wife from both of us .:)

Hey Ben,
Congrats on your new lathe. And double congrats on your new child. Best wishes for your wife and the new boss. However I would hide that hammer under the new lathe, when she realizies what you have donne she might be tempted to use it. Best wishes to you both, my friend.
