I haven't really wanted to share this with any of you. nothin personal, it's just that when I look at all of your pages, I tend to feel a bit small. My pens and my page just don't feel like they are on the same level as this group. I used one of those template building type places. It has been very frustrating at times. Seems like it will never be exactly how I want it. I hate it when inanimate objects argue with me. Been up for about 2 weeks and I've even sold 2 pens. anyway...here goes... www.pinnacleturnings.com I await your opinions.

I really like the photo on the front page. everything looks good. only thing I would change would be the gallery. I would add a description of the items shown.
other than that... I think your on the right path. I have a LOT of work to do on mine.

Looks ok to me.

2 points though.
First I'd ditch the two sheets of paper (or card ) that you use behind the pics and replace it with one big sheet so the edge doesn't catch your eye.

Second, you nearly gave me a heart attack as the sound on my laptop was on full when I clicked on the 'Gallery' Wow I wasn't expecting that!!!!

Only other thing is the VERY cheap price of your pens!!! No wonder you had two sales in two weeks:biggrin:

It appears that you either don't charge for shipping or display the shipping fee after someone logs into paypal, and you don't offer the ability to bypass paypal.

If that's the case, I would change the paypal settings. I did a screenshot of my checkout screen, compare that to yours, in particular the two red cirlced items.

1. Allowing someone to enter their zip code will tell you if they are in Texas so you can collect taxes and they can see what the shipping charges will be before continuing.

2. Adding a credit card checkout feature allows someone to buy from you by simply entering their credit card number without having a paypal account. The transaction still goes through paypal but they don't have to have a paypal account... which a lot of people don't!

I don't know exactly where in paypal you can make these changes, it's been over a year but if I can find the right area anyone can! :)

An additional point is the manner in which you handle your thumbnails and images in both the products and gallery areas. I don't care for the opening of new windows when clicking on an object especially when I am browsing a site I may want to purchase products from. It requires the user to click on too many things.

I would suggest using a product called lightbox2. It can be found at the following link (http://www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/). It is very easy to set up and allows for both single and multiple images to be handled. Try it, you may like it. If you need any help with it feel free to post your questions here in this forum. I use it on several other websites I maintain and have gotten some really good feedback with how it works.

Otherwise, your site looks very nice. Well laid out and easy to navigate. You shouldn't be a bit ashamed or hesistant to refer it to anyone who may be interested in pens.

P.S. I might add that this forum software uses lightbox to handle images.

Looks great.

One suggestion, though. The Gallery looks a little "hap-hazzard." I wonder if it wouldn't look a little better as a "filmstrip" or in categories.

Great appeal, though.

Just my $0.02.

It's a great start. I do hve 2 suggestions. Check your home page wording and punctuation. You use to many commas and periods creating awkward sentences. Second, your home page features a fountain pen as the banner on top but I don't see any fountain pens on your site.

Nice job getting it started and congrats on the 2 sales.

You did a great job building your site. In the gallery crop off the yellow dates on the pics this will give a more proffessional look and not like a home photo.

I thought the navigation was easy enough...you did a good job give yourself a pat on the back and it sounds like the site is working for you too.

Very nice site. A couple of suggestions. On your front page, you use "we" and "me". I would change it to either all plural or all singular, as in "we and us" or "I and me". I really like the outdoor looking photo's of your acrylics and bottle stoppers. You may want to shoot all your products with that backdrop, and use a white sheet on the base. It will be easier to correct white balance issues that way. I like the chunks on your Turquoise Swirl photo, just don't go overboard with them, they can be distracting.

Very good start! I would however get your brother to either take your pictures or help you so that they are not so dark. Specifically the one that has the dots and I think is purple. I would love to see what it looks like but the picture is too dark.

I sold several pens of a website that was the included webspace from my ISP. It looked ok, but not near as good as yours. Keep at it!

I thank all of you for the great advice. I will definatley make as many changes as I can. some of it though. I got even more frustrated reading some of the suggestions, becuase the way this fricken thing is set up with the host. I tried doing some of this already, but the stinkin program just argues with me or sometimes it just does whatever it wants regardless of what I say. It will certainly take some time to clean up the photos (and my brother is too far away to do me any good.) I will keep at it though, and thanks again. I can always count on the members of IAP
