My very first pen ever!

Well, it's no great beauty, but it is my first. I have learned a lot making it. Already have my second one almost ready and will post pics tomorrow. Improving my CA finish for sure, though I was not going for super-shiny on this one, just durable matte finish.

I am really not sure what kind of wood this is, but it looked almost dark purple (not purple heart) to brown prior to finish. The finish really darkened it and deepened the grain. Even though this particular blank came with my bag of five kits (and four other wooden blanks), I think I this wood is the same as what I got laying around from some guitar making (not by me) scraps. If so, I got a lot of this stuff.

I just completed another pen from the same series of 5. This one is maple and I actually like it better. I will post pictures of it tomorrow. Too late and I got to sleep (and dream of turning).
