Here is my first attempt at casting PR. Being on the frugal, my wife calls it cheap, side, I made my own mold out of silicon caulk and corn starch. It is rough, but I did get a casting out of it. I blew a hole in the results, placed it on the mandrel and turned it with my bowl pro, sanded to 1000 and polished with pastix. All comments welcome. Do not hold back, I know it is was off good. I think I have a new addiction.:wink: She is going to kill me!:)

Charles, CPCV pipe makes a great mold, you can use a piece 8 or 10 times and still just a tap will let you finished casting slide out, IF it's polyester Resin, like castin craft or silmar 41 If you're casting Alumilite it won't work that well, since it doesn't shrink during the exothermic but regular old PR is a kick in the pants. You can get some great coloring materials from http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=35, Oh boy are you going off the deep end <LOL>

I always say....It doesn't matter what it looks like when you start...It matters what the final product looks like. Some of my first casts were VERY ROUGH on the outside. As you learn more, you will learn how to get things done more efficiently and at a higher quality level.

Keep it up!
