AND... yes... I have $$$ coming back!!
That's my little "stimulus" to keep the government alive  Now I want it back...Bree and Mark,
Thank you for loaning the government your money interest free.
In the past we've always gotten at least a little $$ back. This year, well, we're filing an extension as it looks like we are going to be helping to fund someone's spending problem. And this is with nothing having changed in our income. Sure wish I could run my budget like the government does.
Filling an extension still requires paying any estimated taxes owed. Filling but not paying will cost .5% P&I per month and not filling will cost P&I of 5% per month. On $1000 that would $5 vs $50 per month.
People who don't pay attention to what is being taken out of their wages are going to be surprised today. A lot less is being taken out (more money to spend...some type of stimulus thingie ???) but the actual tax amount owed has not been reduced. They will get it all back today. I just hope others are diligent enough to have saved it each month and not spent it. Some stimulus huh. Borrowing money to pay taxes is like kissing your sister and my sister is beautiful but kissing her is not something I would enjoy doing:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:.
I'll not mail my payment until the last minute...I owe, I owe, its off to work I go...Bye.
Do a good turn daily!
Don
With the usual, "I am not an accountant and I did NOT stay at Holiday Inn Express", I AM pretty certain that the extension of time to file does NOT allow an extension of time to pay. Of course, we all do what we have to do, but you probably want to see what the penalties will amount to and examine any options before the end of the day, TODAY>
Bree, if you're getting money back, think of all the pen kits you can buy.

In reality I only paid $861 dollars to Federal last year. Still not sure how that happened.
There was a time I firmly agreed that you should not "overpay". This year, however, keeping money in your savings account could have gotten you 0.25% per year!!!! That's $2.50 on your $1000!!!
Not a heck of a lot of difference!!
Several of our post offices localy are open until midnight tonight just for those who wait as long as they possibly can.
