I'm making a Jr. Gent II rollerball and am afraid I reversed the ring. Unfortunately it's pressed in some and I can't remove it. Any suggestions other than being more careful. I can't figure out the thread size on the exposed threads. I was thinking maybe I could screw on something and possibly pull them apart hoping one or the other would come out. If it did I could use transfer punches and remove the offending one if that didn't come out,.

Try putting the end cap on and using a narrow transfer punch. Worked for me the mumblemumble times I've made the same mistake.

edit - unless I've secured the end with CA. The one time that happened I scored a Pyrrhic victory at best. Got the ring off... destroyed the tube and end cap

I too would screw on the cap or nib whichever that end is and just use a transfer punch like normal. If not pressed in all the way it should pop out easily. I have found myself triple checking those rings for some unknown reason.

As JT suggested I'd screw in (internal threads) the end cap or the nib and tap out with a transfer punch. That's opposed to finding something with matching outer threads.

Tap it out, not sledgehammer it out.

Been there, done that. The last time it occurred to me to put the cap on and use a smaller punch only after I had ruined a good pen and blank. Hopefully it wont happen again, but at my age it's not guaranteed.

Thank you one and all. I used David's suggestion and got it out. Here's the finished product: Junior Gent II rhodium rollerball dressed in a burr oak burl. GluBoost finish.
