Striper fishing is about to get good here in Nor-Cal. Here is the ONLY Striper I kept last year out of about 100+. 42" on 15 lb test from shore. What a fight!!!!

The Texas boys haven't weighed in yet, but they'll probably tell you that just about the size minnows they like to use for bait...:devil:

That's some fish you got there... how long did it take to land it??

Eric,
Is there a difference between a German Brown Trout and a speckled brown trout? Is it just some local dialect thing, or is there a difference?

Nice job on thr stripper with 15 lb test.
A couple of summers ago, I watched a guy jump off the pier to "land a stripper he had hooked, but could not bring out of the water due to the height of the pier and his line weight

And I thought I was nuts (I am, but that is a different story)

I'm not sure about the German, Speckled thing.
I almost got spooled during the first 5 minutes. It took about 35 minutes to land it. Notice the wet shorts??? After about 30 minutes the fish decided to lay in a heavy weed bank so I had to swim out in the river about 100 feet to scare it out.

Back in the 60" about 64 65 I was a deck hand with Captain Joseph It was a commerical boat. Spent two weeks at a time fishing. One day a Great WHITE WAS BITING OFF THE SALMON so the captain got his 30-06 out and shot the GW. 16 rounds to kill the fish. We hauled the fish in to San Francisco Fishermens wharf. It was just 3800 lbs. THE FISH HEAD WAS 2 1/2 FEET HIGH. The captain of the boat was only 5ft 1in high.

Now that's was a big fish!

Nice looking striper.A few years ago I was fishing on the Sacramento River at the Minnow hole for Shad and hooked a 25lb striper. Talking about a fight. Fishing for shad on light tackle is fun hooking a stripper on the same is a battle. Everybody on the bank had to reel in as I was running up and down with this fish. I won but took about 30 minuets. My son landed a 52lb. Salmon a couple of years from the bank down in Clarksburg, another battle. Hope to go out when the weather clears and the water clears up a little. To bad the Russians and South East Asians are doing so much poaching in the river, they will kill the Stripper and Sturgeon fishing if they keep it up. When I was kid we would go out in a boat and night and dip net Shad and once in a while net a Striper, don't know if that is even allowed any more.

That doesn't look like a Brown either. Browns are usually more dark Olive/green in color with a speckles. Where did you catch it?

Shoot me a pm when you plan on going out for some Stripers. It's a Brown from a Private lake up 80 about an hour from Sacramento. I get to fish there 3-4 times a year.

Looks like a nice Feather River Brown to me. We used to catch them like that up near lake Almanor. Above Chester.
