A bunch of you know that I was supposed to be getting gastric surgery on Monday, so I thought I'd post this update. For clarification, I was scheduled for lap band surgery, to basically put a fancy hose clamp on my stomach. My insurance company in all its wisdom and unselfishness, has a new ruling, that says that I have to have 6 months of a regulated diet, within the last 24 months, in order for them to pay for the surgery. This is just an effort to get out of paying for so many surgeries.
Well, my last monitored diet was a few months too long ago and they now want me to go through another diet. To make matters worse, if I lose too much weight on the diet, which I've always "yoyo'd" from, I won't qualify for the surgery. I have to be 100 pounds overweight to qualify. I doubt if I'll be able to lose that much weight in 6 months. Actually, I guarantee (heh heh) that I won't. I just wanted to be able to go to Hawaii this year at a much lower weight.
Well, here's my "before picture": My current weight is 398.6 pounds.
WARNING: DON'T VIEW THESE PICS ON AN EMPTY STOMACH!
I appreciate your prayers and need them even more now. It's very depressing news for me and Claudia (my wife). I need wisdom.
Blessings,
Rob
