Hi,

Eventually managed to get hold of a BINKS pot at a half decent price!
It appears to have never been used, but is pretty dirty on the outside as its been stored with other pots. Did come in the original box and with the original paperwork though!

Just not sure what would be the best way to connect up my airlines, as I wasn't expecting any fittings, so was going to have to by the valves, safety release and elbow for the air dispersal. But it has come with three valves, a safety valve (with some kind of adjuster) and a 6-way internal disperser?
Any ideas gratefully accepted!

PHIL

Hi Phil, in picture 3, you need to take off the long tube that sticks down into the pot and replace it with an elbow so the air is diverted sideways as you charge the pot. On the outside of the lid where that tube connects is the air in, you will need to fit a airline "Male" quick release bayonet fitting so that you can just plug your airline on to charge the pot. I went to a local airline / compressor company and got them to sell me exactly what I needed , take the lid with you and explain to them what it is your are doing. The double ended valves in the middle of the lid can be used to blow off the air when you are ready to open the pot.

Hope this helps.

Eric...

Cheers for that Eric. Very helpful.

I'm tempted to take the brass air disperser from the centre, add that to the inlet valve (where the big pipe is).

Or to move the single valve (the inlet) to the centre and attach to the brass nut, then sort a new pressure release valve, as this ones rated at 110psi, and I'm not going to be casting at that pressure! Decisions!

Than just gotta decide what to cast!! Oh, and find a compressor and lines!!

I believe the long tube is the suction tube for the paint. That would be where you release the pressure. All the information I found was to remove that pipe completely. It does not need to be there at all. I tried to unscrew mine but it broke off at the lid, which is fine. The brass air disperser should be left alone. It will divert the air when you add pressure, which is good.

I agree. That is the perfect fitting to disperse the air. And I'd get a pressure relief valve for 100 psi since your pot is rated to 110 (if i read that right). But if the pressure relief valve works at a decent pressure, then all you would need to do is cap the hole where the pipe goes in. You should get a pressure gauge to monitor the pressure even though you'll probably control the amount of pressure from your compressor.

On another note, you could also set that up for vacuum if you wanted to stabilize some wood. You could set one side of the T for pressure, and the other for vacuum. Just a thought.

I'm thinking,

Disconnect the long tube, and change that valve for a pressure gauge.
The air disperser leave as it is with tee-piece, and just keep the one valve closed or maybe cap-off and use the other as the inlet. Then replace safety valve with a more suitable one!

Also the safety valve has a small tee-piece with a small adjusting switch?? Any ideas what it's for?
