I went to the local Rockler store on Wednesday to get a couple of game calls and somehow ended up going homw with a new Jet 1236 lathe. It took some smoth talking with the wife but she knows that I enjoy turning wood. Every night after we eat I go down to the man cave and make square stuff round. I aleady have a 1014 Jet that I love it is VS but I am trying to get used to the new one now. I still plan to keep my small one but I may upgrade the 1236 after a while. P.S. after it was all said and done the deer call only cost 775$. That better call up some good backstrap!

Congratulations on the new lathe. I find that one has to feed the desire for new tools occasionally or the mind starts to stagnate. Your spouse certainly doesn't want you to have a stagnated mind, does she?

That sounds like the time I went to Home Depot with my wife after church to buy some 3" lag bolts to finish my lathe stand. We ended up leaving with a refrigerator....:redface:

$1299 retail, floor display model priced down to $844, opened a new H.D Credit card and got 10% off + $25 gift certificate. Total out the door including the lag bolts and tax was $832....

Most EXPENSIVE lag bolts I ever purchased!! And they didn't drinve themselves into the wood:mad::mad:
