So here I was drooling over some of the recent pics of other guys shops ( which are almost as big as my house ) and I figured I'd show my little spot. I still have loads of room to squeeze stuff in too:biggrin:
Above the garage door are two adult bikes ( mine and wifes ) and the space where I'm standing is where the kids bikes, skate boards etc are.
Think I need a bigger shop?

It amazes me how well organized your shop is. I'm missing the "organization skill gene" so everything is all over the place.

I don't know... With the pens you generate out of that little space.... If you had more space for the tools you Really want we would never have any chance to catch up to you.

Nice tidy shop. I would post a pic of mine, but the mess would probably be too embarrassing...OTOH, it is probably pretty typical.

And where is the garbage skip ???

The only garbage is the stuff that comes out of my mouth, the rest is recycled:biggrin:

This is it in it's 'clean' state as the Outlaws are coming for Christmas:eek:
The rest of the house got the same treatment and we ( the kids and me ) are under threat of a very painful death if we make a mess.

Steven, Would you like to come to Tennessee and arrange my shop?? I will never ever complain about the limited room I have, your shop is amazing, come to think about it so are your pens!!!

It amazes me how well organized your shop is. I'm missing the "organization skill gene" so everything is all over the place.

Ditto. I'm also missing the "cleanliness gene", so not only is my shop disorganized, there is a fine layer of sawdust over most of the tools, and a heavy layer of sawdust on the floor.

I will never complain about the size of my shop again.

Me either I have a 22'x20' and don't make the best space saving plans. I have lots of ideas but $$$ is the issue.
I am amazed at how people can take a smaller area and have a place for everything and then still have it look good. You use the space perfectly.

Very nice setup.

Wow..that is small Steve. Wait till I tell all the Ladies!!!

Cheeky sod!!!

Small but perfectly formed:tongue:

I'm surprised that no-one has commented about the gas bottles below the grinder, but it is actually non-flammable inert gas that I use for work.

The big table on the left side is very multi-purpose. Most of the time it is just a work surface, like now, but it also houses a flush home made table saw that can be switched to cut lengthways or cross ways and be removed and a router installed instead. It also can fold down flush with the wall when I need to make big stuff.
The table with the wood lathe is also a router table with a built in shop vac buried in there somewhere.
I've made some pretty big pieces of furniture in this shop and at a squeeze, can even fit my wifes little sports car in it. In fact the car stayed in there for three days without her knowing, till she got it for her 40th.
I'd love a big shop, but limitations do force you to be tidier ( maybe safer? )

Skip,
When I was in Houston, my shop was the lawnmower shed in the back yard... 9 x 10 inside.. housed two work benches.. one the entire length of the back wall 2 x 10 surface, the second was perpendicular on the front wall about 2 x 5 ft surface... rest of the shop housed two lathes, two scroll saws, a chop saw, a table top band saw, the grinder, a chair for the scroll saws, all the garden tools, including the lawn mower, all of my spare wood, the overhead rafters held several long handled tools that I only used occasionally, some spare plywood that I was "saving in case I might need it" , a box fan, my 3 gallon garden spray bottles (2 of them), and a couple of racks to hold my antler...
If I wanted to use the big lathe, I had to take the little lathe outside, pull the big lathe out, put the little lathe back in, then put the big lathe back in so I could use it... my work area where I stood was 18 to 20 inches wide and about 5 feet long.... I had to go outside to change my mind...
It was NEVER as neat as your shop...

Yes I noticed the gas bottles but also noted the Green tops on them. As has been said, most of us are not utilizing the space we have correctly. "Maybe" I'll fix that next year. yea right! :p Nice little space Skip, I just wish I could produce some of the art pieces you make. Maybe it's the absence of a metal lathe. Will not complain about my10x30 basement. Maybe if i only used half of it I could be more creative.

great use of space.
 Dang ! ! ! SWMBO was looking over my shoulder and saw these pics. Now, I have been instructed to tidy up the shop and move my stuff closer together. I asked her why I need to move things closer and I got the look.
guess, I better get busy.

Skip! you've done a good job with the clean up for the Outlaws, now
l recon a pen each and you'll be really kicking goals, also mate! l don't see any heater, no wonder you freeze ya n##s off.

Was it a hover car? And you put it on full hover so it stuck ti the ceiling? You put a car in that shop? Was it a Barbie car?

Steven,
I also have about as mush space (that is allowed by SWMBO) but I can't create things the way you do. Maybe if I squeezed a little more equipment in there it would force better stuff out of me. Oh Yeah, wheres the sawdust?

Steven,
Oh Yeah, wheres the sawdust?

That's probably only his show off shop... the one where he does is real work is out back in a state of the art shed, with state of the art cnc machines, all white and pristine like the research labs, or the computer chip labs... he just doesn't want us lowly, poor wood turners in the U.S. to know about his real work shop.......:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
