No large pumps for me thanks. Having a small shop has its limitation. Fortunately, I have a very tiny pump that delivers large results in assisting with my stabilization needs including colour wood blank preparation. This small Japanese made pump easily draws 25" column and is smaller than your common Euro pen.

The other shop assist is from my reusable delrin pots. Notice the drawbar in the picture that is used to "drop" the casting from the pot with a slight tap from the capped(brass) end. Nothing sticks to the delrin pots, so that colour transfer is a non issue. No cleaning required at all (I like that)!!!!! The last picture is my version of coffe and chili peppers blanks. Both were cast in the same pots (at different times) and no stick, no colour mess. They're ready to go for my next projects. I think that I'm really enjoying this casting gig.

Peter Where did you get your pump ? Wayne

Wayne, I got the mini pump from a salvage operation in our maintenance department here at work. It was being thrown out and the hoarder that I am, I couldn't let it go. Perhaps a Google search may bring something up with the details stamped on the body of the pump. Good luck!

What is the container that has the gauge on it? I can't tell from the picture. Did you make your Delrin Molds? If not, where did you obtain them? On the picture of the pump it is possible to see some of the numbers, but the site asks for additional information. Could you list the number found on the backside of the pump?
Thanks for the set-up. I like it's size since I also have limited space, but would like to cast some of my own ideas and see what the pens would look like in the end.

The container is a PICKLE JAR. I made the delrin pots (molds). See link for possible purchase info. for the mini pump.

Serge,
I can not comment on the HF pump in respect to my little one. One thing I did notice is that it mentions a compressor @ 4.2 CFM and my 1HP certainly can not generate that much volume. Perhaps someone else here can chime in and answer Serge's question. Please respond if you can provide some insight on the HP venturi pump from Harbour Freight. Will it work for typical vacuum pump applications with a small compressor?
