I don't usually gloat and don't post a lot, but I had to gloat about this. I got this Jet DC-1200C in trade for 10 10K Americana Pens. He even supplied the wood from his shop.

It may even lead to a long term relationship so I am excited about that.

I have the exact setup and am very happy with the operation. About the best improvement I could offer is that you put a trash can under where the bag is now with the plastic bag over inside it. That way you don't stand too great a chance of a large chip flying into the bag and ripping the unprotected plastic collection bag and it will also help protect it as you move 'stuff' around. Just imagine the time saved if you ever did rip the bag open and spill the contents all over the place. It will also make a hugh mess if you ever rip it open and the vacuum is on... Been there, done that ONCE.

Adding a pre-collection cyclone lid on a 30 gallon metal trash can prior to the vacuum intake will save the impellers from damage from larger chips. A small chip of wood can and probably will get into the vacuum line sooner or later and it will cause a lot of damage at the speed some of these things get up to. Home Depot has a metal 30 gallon trash can that is perfect for the cyclone lid. This can will not collapse as plastic can and will do. Woodcraft has the lid complete with internal fittings. (Other places sell the internal pieces separate - rip-off) Both the trash can and cyclone lid are about $30 each. BTW, the impellers are EXPENSIVE.The larger chips will fill the trash can a lot quicker than the dust will so your work to empty them is cut in half. Besides that, the chips in the can are far easier to empty than that danged plastic bag. I have yet to empty my dust bag in three years, but I have emptied the chips can dozens of times.

Be sure to rotate the cleaning bars at least three complete times prior to start-up each time you get into the shop. That way the pleating will not be so full of fine dust as to cut back on the vacuum ability of the canister.

For those of you that are using cloth bags this metal filter ($200+) is an excellent upgrade that will save your lungs and keep the shop much cleaner of really fine dust. It is definitely worth the money as this is far cheaper than a visit to the hospital anytime. [:D]
