My first casting was Abalone Shell with a purple tint using Liquid Diamonds. 50 psi for 24 hours. The cast is bubble free! The cast is hard and turns beautifully! So far so good.

Now for the step back. I used a purple Sharpie to color the edge of the Abalone Shell and the Brass tube at the single seam. The Sharpie bleed into the LD resin leaving and orange stripe in what would have been a great blank.

Time to do some testing with different paints and LD to make sure they are compatible before casting anything else especially some watch part blanks that are in the works.

DON'T USE Sharpies with Liquid Diamond Epoxy!!!

Cheers,

Danny

P. S. One failed blank and I believe the addiction has already taken root. More to come.

Love the color in the blank, Dan! I can't even see the orange stripe in the pics. Now that you're casting, I think you'll find that almost every new blank you pour is your new favorite! I look forward to seeing you're new work!
