Ok so all this talk about casting has gotten to me. I took a small cake loaf pan my wife had sprayed it with oil then put tin foil in it for a liner. Oops I forgot to oil the tin foil ohwell. It gelled up pretty quick after I put some heat on it and had to act quickly but not sure if I was quick enough. We will see tonight well I cut it in half and turn it.

Chris, what did you mean by "It gelled up pretty quick after I put some heat on it."??? I'm hoping you meant that you heated the resin in a hot water bath, not a couple of other scenerios I can invision.

Lol. Na I just used the hair dryer to heat up the area

Probably would have been better to just let it gel on its own, and had some fun swirling the colors as it began to set. I've gotten myself into a lot of trouble trying to heat the resin (hot water) and learned the hard way that it's a lot harder to control than room temp resin. I think I have it under control at the moment (Thanks Fred), but only time will tell.

BTW -- I think you now hold the IAP World Record for going from a complete newbee (first turned pen) to a caster (first cast) in thirty days. Good luck. :)

Ok here is my first cast that I made and turned into a pen. I can see several things that could have been better. I tried to make it red white and blue. But it looks like some kind of pink and blue. It is a little translucent and the barrel is showing I see now why you must paint barrels on some. but I really thought it would have been darker. The red and white seem to have forged together and made a color on their own cause I mixed them in seperate cups.

This is why I have been sticking to two color casts. I'm just starting myself, so I couldn't tell you exactly what happened there. That being said, pretty nice effect, even if a bit unintended.

Well I am happy to hold that title. I always have liked to jump right in
