I learned two things fast.
1. Seemingly dry wood is not dry enough.

2. A food dehydrator works great to really dry my wood. In this case a bag of Jack daniels whiskey barrel smoking chips from Lowes!

Soon I will be trying my hand at casting. I will make a note to use very dry wood only if I try mixing materials. I've got a lot to learn on casting before I try it.

It took my 6 months or so to gather all the equipment up and working. So I'm just getting going as well. 3 pours netted me 15 good blanks.
