My brother's tulipwood

[OOPS]

My brother has turned several tulipwood pens. He revisited the local Woodcraft and purchased two more tulipwood blanks. From the outside, they both looked unremarkable. I think we were both stunned with what emerged from the first blank.

While not experts by any means, we have yet to see a tulipwood blank with such color. The finish is two coats of CA.

Thanks for looking and all replies and critiques are welcome. My photo is not ideal, but it was the best I could do with what I had to work with at the time.

Well, that's the thing about wood, there are no 2 pieces the same and in between the good and the bad, we get the extraordinary and that my friend is the luck of the draw...!

It's unbelievable how the true beauty of the wood can unfold as you are turning. As somebody who has turned for only a year and half, I am awed by the way nature can perform such artwork and allow us the privilege of revealing it. Regards, Doc
