I don't think I was around when I got her back. Been probably 5 months or so. Story goes; I bought this car myself probably 13 years ago. I kept it in storage because I was too dumb and broke to work on it and eventually I sold it to my cousin's husband who promptly fixed it, drove it to Florida and back, then divorced my cousin. I sold it to him for $200 because i thought it was going to stay in the family. So, fast forward 13 years and his wife hits me up on Facebook asking if I want to buy it back for the same $200. I jump on it, she says it's not quite the same as when I sold it. So... I'll have to get it back to driveable. Hoping to work on it this fall. If anyone here is a gearhead with some time to screw around this fall, let me know!

And yes, I drove it down the road sitting on some parts.

Believe it or not he did a lot of body work but one door was unsalvageable and unfortunately he gutted the interior so I've got to clean it all, weld floors in, carpet it, try and reassemble the interior, put all the chrome back on, lights, replace wiring, weld a trunk back in, find window and door seals, etc. Yeah, it's going to be tough... especially when the wife doesn't approve of spending money on it!

Heh, no his intention was to fully restore it. He had a buddy who was great at rebuilding cars but as soon as they had it disassembled and most of the body work done his buddy was suddenly hard to get a hold of. So, he just stashed it all away in his shed with the intention on getting to it one day.

Geez.

Even with all that work ahead of you, you still look happy to have her back.
Congrats and make sure we see pics of the restore.

.

Dang that used to be pretty nice now its kinda uhh shabby.

I wanna do a fix up like that on an old mustang just too young to buy all the crap

Sweet, that will be a fun project! And expensive!! My dad and I rebuilt an old Chrysler several years back. Had a blast and learned alot about antique cars.

Hey a nice primer color! Keep it running and dont worry about what other people think it looks like, just have fun driving it around!

Wow..it really is like the Flintstone mobile. It's was a great car. You look pretty happy sitting in it. I would say scrap it and spend your money on something else, but if it makes you happy, then money and time are of no consequence.

Sounds like a fun project. If I lived closer I would give ya a hand. I still regret letting my wife talk me into selling my Camaro. I wish I still had that car.

So, what are you going to do in your spare time?

Heh, I've had a Camaro. Mine was a 77, red with black stripes. Also had some bugs, a Grand Wagoneer, a Cherokee, 67 Dodge Dart GT, 73 Mach 1, two Jettas, 3 Civics, Toyota T100, Ford Ranger, MG Midget, Eclipse, Golf, IH ScoutII, 4 Volvos, and more.... I really need to settle down.

Spare time? Hah, that's part of the problem... I don't have any!

Well Skye,
I'm a gearhead, but too dang far to drive over for the day. Doesn't look like a ton of work is needed. Just hope you can weld pretty good:). Once you get the floorpans and other stuff welded in, it'll be a breeze. Is the motor in decent shape?? I've rebuilt tons of cars. Nothing like Chip Foose though. Kinda like the Hillbilly restorations. As long as you got plenty of time and a little money it should be easy. That is as long as the wife don't make you sleep in it. I guess that's why i'm not married, she's never understood why I gotta have so many cars.

Skye, Looks like a great project, street rods were my hobby back when I thought I had money and time. If you think turning pens as a hobby is expensive  Here are two of my last ones the tall blond was one of the Bud girls IIRC. 48 ford coupe and 29 ford two door

Badass man, that 29 needs a few inches of roof pillar removed :)

Boragga, mine will very much be a hillbilly restoration. Well, I guess the word "restoration" probably can't even be used lol

I love old cars of all kinds but I prefer 70's and 80's European and Japanese cars. My favorite car of all time was my 76 280z. My current toy is an 86 Saab 900s.

How very cool! That looks a lot like my old Buick LeSabre. First car I owned - used. Geez, I loved that car!

The Route 66 Rendevous is coming up next month here in San Bernardino. Every year I wander around looking at all the rebuilt cars "from my generation." I've never seen one like that yet. I'll be looking forward to seeing your progress.

I think at one time or another we all have regrets about the car we sold. I had a 74 Challenger 360 4-speed. She was my baby. :crying:

Check out http://www.yearone.com/ It's eye candy!! Sort of like drooling over the pen catalogues for some of the forum members.:biggrin:
