[xx(] LOML says I have used up my allotment of bad words for the month[:I]. Recieved some tru-stone today and decided on a Jr. Statesman rhodium and gold with a Bianco Nero blank with two rows of turquoise tru-stone scallops on the nib end. When I glued the tube in the cap blank, I saw two cracks @$#$#%@#. Decided to try and fix with ca. That thin stuff runs fast, sets even faster. Glued two fingers togather and to the blank at the same time. #%##$%^ Good thing I have lots of acetone. Decided to turn blanks and see how bad crack will show. Turned blanks and discovered a space between the two rows of scallops, not much, but enough to make me not like it. $#$%$^^ Cracks show worse than I thought. &%#$@# Put pen togather anyways just to get idea how it woulda looked. Sigh. LOML liked it, but she is just too nice a person. Tomorrow I take apart and turn blanks down to tubes and try again. Maybe same combo, maybe not.
Hey Gary, that sounds like one %$%£(* of a pen [] The scallops sound great. Can't you post a pic before you strip it down?
Do what I do, and hide the bad bit in the photo.[8D]
You also forgot to take a pic of you being stuck to the pen!!!![]
Cracked cap came apart during disassembly. Scallops are nib end. I did learn a lot, so not all bad.
Replacement pcs. and I decided to go with black and white pearl acrylic for the scallops. Forgot to paint tube, duh. Did not matter as the cap cracked again. I drilled slow and used lots of water. Oh well. Think I will strip this one down AGAIN and give the acryilc a rest for a while. I got this pc. of black and white ebony about 50/50 black and white. I just might use this with no scallops or any extras at all. Just basic wood. I do have a few more pcs. of the bianco-nero on the way. When the Captain Morgan runs out.......[]
