This weekend I picked up a mulberry branch trimming at my church (San Jose Mission Church). Not sure how old these are but they are rather small...3.5" dia. There are a few nice figured ones though and I will make a couple pens for the Friars.

I milled them oversized in case they warp but they didn't much...some did crack/check though. Hope CA can take care of it.

Here are my favorites which are about ready to be turned after going through 2 days of microwave drying...

Very nice Dario. I had no idea mullberry could look that good. I trim mullberry all the time and have never seen anything like that. I'm going to have to start looking closer.

I have been after LOML to trim our Mulberries for 3 years, maybe he'll finally do it next year. Too late this year already. Those are really pretty Dario.

I wasn't paying attention to it actually until I saw the cut end. The colors grabbed me right away. It is hard even when green ...not sure how hard it will get when totally dried.

As I said (and can be seen on the pics) I had cracking issues...that is probably due to the fact that these were cut at the worst possible time (Spring). It was full with new leaves and berries when I found it.

As rough as the cuts are...I can tell this wood have chatoyance. I wonder how nice older/matured wood are. Another wood to watch out for (atleast for me [;)])
