After seeing the agenda for the 2024 MPG, someone asked what the difference between the two presentations that I am giving this year.
Both talks are showing techniques that use threads on pen tubes. The thread wrapping is layering rows if colors in geometric patterns to make different patterns. The thread weaving is effectively drawing a pattern on the tube by moving threads over and under a continual wrap. In the two tubes below, the right one is a wrap (fire and ice pattern) and the left one is a weave (golden dragon on purple). The second photo is the
That is a simple description of the differences between the two. Different setups, different looks, same tools to do both, and the sane levels of frustration while in progress, and satisfaction when done.
