I was wondering if someone coould answer a question for me. Would it be ok to mount the motor pictured below upside down? Im not sure what the tube hanging off each end is and if it would be ok for them to be pointing up rather than down...

all you need to do is remove the bolts that go through the motor and rotate the end plates to the position that you need them in so that you will be able to add a few drops of oil periodically. they must be rotatated in 90 degree increments.

If it were my motor/project I would probably replace the wiring to the motor. Pretty easy to do while it is off the machine. Perhaps that is already on your todo list.

It is on my to do list... Just not 100% comfortable with it. Guess I will just open it up and see what it looks like. Not sure why there are 4 wires coming out of it but will find out when I open it.

I don't know about the four wires. If nothing else just duplicate the wiring exactly, assuming of course it works now.

I think the plate says 110 or 220 volts. right now it has about 3 different sections of wire spliced together and wrapped in electrical tape. When I plug it in it runs just fine on 110... I dont know much about this stuff. The first splice takes it from 4 wires down to 2. I will see what is happening under the tape there tonight.

If anyone has any wisdom... Im all ears.

Thanks
Matt
