I really like the abalone blanks and pens but have been too cheap to buy any. I decided to try my hand at making some from mother of pearl and Paua abalone strips. Can't wait to turn these. I feel a cold coming on and might have to leave early today.

As someone who is currently trying to setup a pressure pot this is on my to do list. Might I ask where I would purchase abalone strips? And what king of adhesive to use on the barrel?
 
Cody; Those Summer colds are the worst !! Best way to cure yourself and not effect co-workers is to keep your distance from them by spending time in the work shop, yard, or exercising on the golf course. These blanks will make some outstanding pens !! Jim S
 
Did you use the strips of veneer or the sheets and cut it? What are the best tools for cutting this kind of material?

Is there any benefit to the pre adhesived veneer, I don't know if it would hold up.
