Basically, if you sell books, dvd's, cd's etc. they are going to force you to included a "reasonable" shipping and handling cost. Regardless if your costs are more or not. If you want to protect your shipping cost "include it in your beginning price" (so that they can charge you more in listing/final value fees). (Will likely come to other catagories soon)

They are disallowing check/Mo payments on all but the most expensive items (real estate and cars). So only buyers who are willing to use electronic payments will be allowed.

encouraging free shipping, by rewarding powersellers (the people who need the least reward) and giving everyone subtitles (whoopdee).

Oh, and if you have less than a 4.3 on their star program you will no longer be able to sell on ebay.

I really think they want to shut themselves down.

Not only are they encouraging free shipping but they are manipulating their search feature to go to the "free Shipping" listings first. Since the first of the year Connie has slowly been building her sales on a site called Etsy. It's not a auction site as items have set prices. But most of the things she's selling do ok this way(vintage clothes and handmade jewelry)...She's even listed a few of my "Artsy" pens but I've looked at some others selling there and mine are priced way higher. I've had a lot of "lookers" but no takers but I expected this.
I agree that if eBay keeps with it's current trend of changes they are possibly on the way out!

Etsy is a great site, not as much exposure as feeBay, but you can get a fair price for you goods, I may adjust my prices closer to the average prices on etsy but it doesn't cost a fortune to set up a nice little shop

Dang, there was a story on this on MSNBC yesterday but they did not say what the new stuff was going to be like.

They screwed themselved a bit when they didn't allow sellers to write negative feedback. Problem was that sellers would include a negative if the buyer had posted a qualified negative. I even saw one seller leave a negative feedback that went like this "gee, thanks for the negative feedback". -What an A$$h*le.

People have sigured out the shipping charge to make money deal and I for one am glad eBay is looking more into this. I've watche people list shipping for a DVD boxed set at $29.95. Other items I have looked at have had shipping charges of $25 or more when UPS or FedEx ground would be like $10. The people did it to themselves on this one.

The excessive and sometimes rediculous shipping charges have been a major irratant for quite some time, personally and to those that controlled Ebay. They had a name for it and asked people to report it. It is called Fee Avoidance.

More power to flea-bay to stop the blatant, dishonest abuse of the system by using such high shipping charges to avoid paying their fee. It cost money to do business as we all know, so when one clown cheats flea-bay out of fees, it make everyone's listing fees go up.

I think a lot of those buggars are making as much on shipping as they do the item they're selling. Example: the retro kit for the Jet mini [whole kit] $8.95. Fair. A motor for a big Grizzly lathe [big heavy sun of a gun], $13.00. Fair enough. But a chunk of wood 11 x 12 x 2 = $18.00. BULL. How about a chunk 3 x 3 x8= $11.00. There's been more than once that the shipping caused me not to bid. I look at that like I look at Wal Mart "just keep your @#$% junk".
