Some know that I lost my FatKat on Monday and being a dyed-in-the-wool animal lover with a partiality to cats I took it rather hard. Momma suggested that we go to Petsmart last night because she needed to get treats for the dogs.
Well…………Petsmart hosts a spot for the humane society and a local animal shelter to show off their cats in need of adoption.. (I’ll bet you already know where this is going.)
Momma said “Let’s go over and pet a cat, maybe it will take your mind off of FatKat for a little bit†As I was aimlessly wandering by the cages a little gray cat caught my eye. He stuck his little paw out of the cage and just commanded my attention, he was purring up a storm. He had something wrong with his eye, it didn’t look normal. I asked about the little fellow and the girl from the humane society told me that his previous owner had kicked him in the head. They said he was blind in that eye but he was a great cat in every other way. Playful and loveable he instantly stole my heart. Of course they had him out of the cage and in my arms and he was rubbing on my face and purring up a storm. I looked at momma and when she looked at me the tears began to flow. We both could not fathom who could be so mean and despicable as to hurt this little ball of love. We were told that the previous owner claimed that the cat hissed at him so he tried to kick its head in out of fear. (This little fella weighs 7 ½ pounds and is not much bigger than a kitten.)
Needless to say, the Mudder household added “Grayson†to the family last night.
He is 1 ½ Year old male neutered and declawed (Our cats are always housecats). Not sure of the breed yet but he is solid gray from head to tail. He is making remarkable progress with the dogs and he loves the attention that is showered upon him. The girl at the humane society was telling us of another cat that needed extra attention and we are going to look at it today. I think we have enough love to spare for a second cat. We have two dogs to keep each other company, why not have two cats.
I still have not got past the death of my beloved FatKat but I think that Grayson somehow senses this and is trying his very best to help out.
She admitted to me that she went to Petsmart on Wednesday and saw him and knew I would not be able to walk away from him.
Pictures will follow.

Well.......
Just got back from petsmart........
The special needs cat we looked at has food allergies, but it looked just like a cat I had when I was much younger so we took him home.
May I present to you
"Oscar" our special needs cat.
He was "dumped" because he had food allergies and the food he requires is pretty expensive but with all the love this guy has to give I think it's well worth the price. he had been at the shelter for more than 3 months and was very depressed. Momma took an old stocking and put some catnip in it and "Oscar" is acting like a little kitten:
While we were there we spied a third cat that looked very much like my beloved Fatkat so we took him home with us to. His name is "Jax" but both he and "grayson" are still adjusting to us so they are hiding under the bed. when they adjust a little more I'll post pictures.
Presenting Jax (who has been renamed to Jack and is still a bit shy so I got down on the floor and shot picks under the bed):
While it has been hard to lose my buddy, It benefited three other cats that were in desperate need of a home and I think I'll have a lot of compainionship for the next few years.
