I finished this herringbone- like pen made from walnut veneer and tongue depressors ( i think birch). Didn't come out great but not bad either. I think that tongue depressors are not stable enough for such patterns,maybe table saw strips would be better. Also keeping the pen's twist action was a mistake; next time i ll keep the blank a single piece. Cheers

Unusual pattern. The tongue depressors might be of a soft wood. This will give you an excuse to make another one. Photos required, please.
