Just starting the casting and got my pigments from Artstuf today. Waiting on an invoice from Mr Fiberglass. In the library 2008 there is an article on Casting Poly Resins. by Richard Greenwald. He says that he uses dipropylene glycol mono-methyl ether To help mix the powdered pigments. Does anyone else use this. Or do you make a small mixture of pigment and resin then add it to the rest of the cup? I hate to waste the pigment and resin if it will not mix. This will be the first casting I have done with dry pigment. Have done a couple with liquid and thats about it. Thanks Rich H.

i looked over the web &couldn't find the stuff.now i mix mine with a couple of oz. of resin shake &let set for a few days.i also use liquid pigments that i think i bought from mr. fiberglass. hope this helps:biggrin: ---ron.

i've mixed dry colorants all the time.....stir throughly with a wooden popcicle stick.....never had any problem at all.......just jump in and try.......we've all had 'oops' and you'd be surprised at the result you might get....trial and error

I do the same as hug, just use a Popsicle stick or stir stick and mix it in. Take a minute to make sure it's mixed well and you should be fine. I use mica powders from Cathy's Coastal Scents.

I also use the dry pigments from Artstuff . I just put in a little, stir, add a little more if needed and stir again. I use paper cups so I can let it sit for about 10 minutes to be sure it's all dissolved then I stir again and pour. It's not rocket science. Dump in a little powder and see what happens.:biggrin:

Thanks everyone. I have a little from Micheals left and will try a batch this weekend. That article in the library was the only place I had seen about problems with mixing the powders . Will post my results.
