"Miniature" peppermills

I am doing a bit of travelling right now and the last couple mornings in the restaurant I have been eyeing up their peppermills. They are only about 3" tall. Does anybody know if you can buy a kit for small ones like this and if so where? I think there would be a much better market in my area for them than the larger ones.

I think when people want shorter versions, it is a simple matter of cutting the rod down to length and putting a new thread on with a die of the appropriate size. I know someone who has made them much longer than any of the standard kits and he just buys the rod and threads it himself. I think too, that some of the kits have an aluminum rod which could probably be threaded just using a steel nut.

Right idea, wrong end.

Cut off the "unthreaded" end and "peen" the end to hold the cutter mech.

Very simple.
