I wanted to follow up on Dario's comment. I also received a Mini G 3/8" bowl gouge with my name on it. This is now my 3rd Glaser tool and my first Mini G. I would have to say I am extremely impressed with this tool. While the larger full sized tools (and one of mine is huge - a 1" spindle gouge) are more impressive in general, I am almost more impressed with the Mini G. This is largely due to the fact that small tools usually have no control whatsoever to me so I don't use them. This one has the feel of a much larger tool thanks to that handle. I hate that this is sounding like an advertisement but many of you already know how much I love my Glasers. I am slowly trying to replace my other tools with these as I can afford to. I don't know whether they sell these individually or just as a set but they are worth checking out.

I want to buy their 5/8" full size gouge now [:D]

I told Phil at Highland Woodworking that the first Glaser I bought cost me over a thousand dollars and when he looked at me funny I told him it was because I was going to have to replace all my tools with them now.

I also have the 3/4 skew and was about to buy the big bowl gouge but had to get a new band saw. Wait and get the V15 with the black handle -- that is going to be the tool to own![:p][}:)][xx(]

Hi Chris!

Yes, I heard you were a nice guy as well! [8D]

I would love to hear your impressions of this tool after you get to turn with it for a while. Paulo Marin with Glaser/Hitec has really taken an interest in us penturners, and is known to visit the IAP occasionally. Some feedback on the quality of these tools, which I'm sure is nothing less than awesome, will help pay back for some of his generosity! The development of these MiniG tools was kind of a risky thing because they were shooting for a different market than usual, and they need to know if they hit the mark or not.

Have fun!

Scott.

Scott,

I love the two Glaser's that I won and will be sending a pen as a thank you. Not that I have any money right now, but where can we buy these? I know of nowhere they are available for sale. It might be something they may want to make available to the members via this site.

I have got to throw out my favorite woodworking store in the world -- Highland Woodworking (formerly Highland Hardware). They started carrying the Hitec Glasers more strongly than anyone and always have great service. I know this sounds like a commercial and maybe it is a little but only because I love the store. If you call ask for Phil Colson and he will take good care of you. If you want to email me I will give you his email address as well.

He is a good turner and friend and knows his stuff! He also has a large collection of Glasers and has basically abandoned a very large collection of tools that now collects dust.
