:eek:Urban Meyer is stepping down as coach at Florida because of health concerns that came to light when he was admitted to a hospital because of chest pains following the Southeastern Conference championship game.

The 45-year-old Meyer resigned Saturday, calling it quits after five seasons in Gainesville and two national titles. He leaves Florida with a 56-10 record that includes a 32-8 mark in league play and a school-record 22-game winning streak snapped early this month against Alabama.

Sad day for us Gator fans.....

Recent reports are he is now changing his leave to a "sabbatical", the offensive coordinator is taking his place until he decides for sure. So don't sell your 'Gator gear yet, Roy!

Just saw that on TV. Bet you he'll be back by spring practice.quote=JimMc7;951069]Recent reports are he is now changing his leave to a "sabbatical", the offensive coordinator is taking his place until he decides for sure. So don't sell your 'Gator gear yet, Roy![/quote]

Kinda weird. He said the players are the ones who talked him into staying. Guess his health isn't that bad after all.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. I've also heard that this "flip-flop" is a recruiting thing.

...You know they have the #1 rated class coming in.

I think when he heard Stoops mentioned as a possible replacement, he figured Stoops winning a championship with his recruits would be worse for his health than 20 hour days! Of course, with Stoops, getting to the title game is easier than winning it. Not complaining though as I figure Notre Dame fans would nominate Stoops as a saint if he led the Irish to 4 title games in 10 years -- even if he only won 1 of them.

Word on the street is, Urban Meyer found out they were going to hire Bobby Petrino. He just couldn't let that happen.
