7 inch mesquite sphere. Wipe on poly finish. Fun and challenging. Now, what to do with it. I thought about drilling 3 holes...bowling ball style.:biggrin:

Hey, that is a good idea. Lots quicker than casting some oer cutting a "real" bowling ball....been there done that.

I would cut it at an angle, and glue holly or ebony circles in it to make it look like Satern. Silkwood or Snakewood would give the effect of a asteroid belt around it. Jim S

Turn a couple more and dowel them together in different locations, something similar to a molecular structure.

Nice work. Turning a perfect sphere is indeed a challenging task. Now you just need to turn a big bat to go with it

Lots of good ideas. What I really want to do is hollow one out. I think a hollow sphere would be neat. I've been working on hollow forms the last few months.
