Mermaid Abalone

I'm not sure what makes a blank an Abalone blank at all really, but here's my version…Mermaid Abalone. I wasn't really going for that look, it just sort of happened.

IDK what look you were going for, but the look that "happened" happened very well! That's a great mix of colors that flows nicely through the blank.

I think usually, folks here discussing Abalone are referring to the snail's shell. It's multi-colored and iridescent. There's a woodworker on Craftisian.com who uses abalone in his box lids for marquetry. Pretty amazing work.
