I cut down a Paper Bark (Melaleuca quinquenervia) in my swamp behind the house because (considered an invasive species here in Florida) and decided to make pens for the neighbors and myself. Very surprised how much it darkened when I dried it and how many cavities opened up. The pen below is cast with a swirl of yellow and glittery gold Alumilite to match the Dayacom Great Palace rollerball kit. Nothing spectacular about the grain pattern but not a bad look either.

My bad photography doesn't do this pen justice.

Nice work blending the gold into the wood. Where did you kit the pen components? I have been looking everywhere for a Great Palace Vine.

Wow, that is one heck of a pen kit! Ornate!!! The wood goes well with it, as does the alumilite inlays.

But man, that kit!!

Its a $96 kit and I had been wanting to make it for a while. My son bought me a book that I have fill out and return to him, lots of questions about my life growing up and my personal thoughts. Since it is something he will keep forever and pass down I wanted something special to write my responses with and the pen could stay with the book. I am not a writer but I am looking forward to using this pen and giving it to my son.
